ladies night @ the yard

IMG_2300 IMG_2305

The Yard is a place with crazy atmosphere and super friendly people. I have wanted to go there at night for so long and decided that this was the place for LADIES NIGHT. We had a bit of a Photoshoot while we waited for our friend Claire. One of the waiters were kind enough to be our Photographer #sosweet #pullaface

The Décor around this restaurant you will not find anywhere else. It’s so unique and I love it. The one thing I love the most is that you write you name on the wall to place your order. Once it’s your turn the amazing cooks shout out your name  and you place your order, our name for the night was HEELS. Once your order is ready they shout out your name again to collect your meal. We took a few selfies while we waited for our food. When our food arrived we all dug in and all said “mmmmmm, that’s really good” It was awesome and at times I got the biggest kick from the Jalapeno Peppers. I died just a little bit haha but I am starting to like them a lot 🙂 The chips were pure perfection crunchy on the outside but puffy in the center , just the way I like it. We ended up staying at the yard just talking about anything and everything for at least 3 hours, like they say time flies when you having fun.

If you ever tight on a budget but want some really good food and friendly atmosphere the YARD is the place to be!!!

If you know me pretty well, I am very into art and when I heard about the event RedbullSA was going to have called “Doodle Art” in the gardens, I couldn’t wait to go. I didn’t care if I was sick, in pain, couldn’t walk, I was going to be there.

When walking in, you are welcomed by so many people and of course you have to treat yourself to a Redbull. My boyfriend and I then went on the explore the different art pieces that was on show 🙂

The surf board was one of my favorite ones. It was interactive and very colourful, you would notice it from the entrance. It really stood out and the kids that came with their parent would run straight to the surf board wanting to stand on it and take a picture. I am not a surfer and totally look like a natural in this picture, if I may add. I would like to learn how to surf one day…

I loved the way this lady looked and her eye colour was like a yellow and it was so funny because my glasses was just about the same colour, totally felt we had a bonding moment. I loved the detail and that it was a beautiful female in the image, nothing like some girl power.

South Africa’s artist had truly captured the most famous mountain we are known for “Table Mountain” in Cape Town, South Africa. I loved the fact that when you looked through the whole you would see the design below all over the mountain. Yes it was just an Image that was on the Screen but the way it was positioned it seemed so real. Once again the kids wanted to play with it and so did the adults. Made it a fun activity for any age group.

The Pyramid was so much fun. When you walked through the sun would shine through the glass and it made you look up. The design was in the glass and it looked so awesome with the sunlight shinning through. It would make the print all over your face and body which I thought was different and beyond awesome.

The elephant was a cloth with the design on and was perfect to the touch (I would have totally worn that print)l. It also bought something different to the event as most were on paper. I was so happy to see that most of the Art pieces were of Women, had colour, had some element that was represented in the Countries, was just fun and inspiring to see some really good artists put pen to paper. I love drawing and messing around with pen and paper. Most of the time its more doodling then an actually drawing but add them all to together and you could get a really good art piece.

If Art is a way you to express yourself, then do it. Don’t let anyone stop you, reach your dreams and always believe in yourself.

God Bless

20two errrthing

I can’t believe I have done 22 posts already and I can’t wait till I get to 222 🙂

I decided that this post I am going to dedicate to errrrthing (everything) 22. You will find just how obsessed I am with this number.

IMG_0718 IMG_0313

Reason why I love 22 – I was asked by a friend of mine one day what my favorite number was and I said “2, then paused and said no if I love everything in pairs or doubles why should I just like 2, ummm I change my answer to 22”. That started my love for the number 2/22.

I have had many moments were I see the number 22 and get beyond excited, get 22 likes on a picture, find out my friend is turning 22 and say “it’s the best year yet”, see the time 22:22 and wanna kiss my boyfriend or send him a kiss over text message, I would like to travel to 22 places and then some more, I wanted to be married at the age of 22 but marriage is a whole different ball game, I want to live at the number 22, I want a tattoo of 22 in roman numerals, I believed that when I was 22 not only would I be married I would have 2 kids already (I want 4) All of these things are just my obsession with 22 and some of them are totally crazy but some I will accomplish and I plan on doing so.

IMG_0556 IMG_0811IMG_1052 IMG_1380

My favorite thing about the number 22 is the Biblical meaning – you can also find this on my Lion Page.

The Hebrew alphabet is made up of 22 letters, which are used to compose the Word of God. The word of God is called a Lamp (Psalms 119:105, Proverbs 6:22), thus it is the light by which we are to live. the Word light if found 264 times in Scripture. When 264 is divided by 12 (divine authority) we have 22, which represents Light. God created 22 things in 6 days of creation.

I didn’t realize that a number that I thought would just be my favorite, could have so much meaning and actually have some sort of direction I would want go in with my life , by this I mean that I would want to be the light in the dark places and be different so that people would want to know why, I could then explain to them and hope that they would do the same for others.

IMG_1395 IMG_1398 IMG_1556

Everyone has their obsessions mine for the rest of my life will be 22… What’s yours??

God bless

oh snap_NYC

It was always my dream to go to New York City and after 2 and a half years I made my dream come true. Many of my friends were au paring in America, I researched it and thought that it would be the best way for me to go to America and get paid while doing it, so I became an au pair. I was with a family from Long Island New York and stayed with them for  7 months. We had our ups and downs but all in all it was a great experience.

These are some of the places I visited in New York City.

Grand Central Station, 89 E 42nd St, New York

IMG_9996           IMG_8208

In most movies I had seen (Step up 4, Get him to the Greek, and Friends with Benefits) there is always a scene where they kiss, bump in or meet their loved one in Grand Central Station. The moment I had walked into the station, it was truly breathtaking. Yes I am a “drama queen” but I could honestly see myself in that movie and Justin Timberlake having people dance around me or the guy in Step up telling me his going away with me or Russell Brand booking out the whole station for a date just to make me feel special and then some guy knocked me and I was totally back to reality but even just standing there I couldn’t believe that I could touch things some people will only ever see in movies.

The first image is of the Flatiron building. When I saw it I really didn’t realise it was the building until I stood on the side then proceeded to the front of it. This building reminds me of when I was young and would take my ironing board out and “act” as if I was doing something to my clothes. It was really something I was happy to see. Of course the second image is of the streets of New York that is filled with the famous “Yellow Taxis”. It is really everywhere but the price you end up paying just to use one, WOW I think I would rather walk to my destination. One of my favourite experiences was to visit “Starbucks” and have an Iced Mocha or Pumpkin Spice Latte. There isn’t one in Cape Town, South Africa and the first thing I ordered was an Iced Coffee (which was nothing like we have but just filter coffee that was stored in a fridge, p.s not my favourite) I was so excited I just added so much sugar and milk, it ended up tasting really nice. I was just glad I finally got myself a Starbucks coffee. The love sign, the love sign, the love sign. On my final 3 weeks I had really missed home and wanted to just be with my boyfriend, family and friends. I had remembered the Love sign from a picture a friend had put on Instagram and I said to my friend Shannon that “we need to go there today”. We walked for hours and went sight-seeing which was so much fun, we totally looked like tourists. I had finally reached  the love sign and I instantly felt loved which is completely weird but I felt as if everyone that meant something to me was there holding me and I knew that it wouldn’t be long until I was in Cape town again with my loved ones.

Times Square where do I begin. I had gone to Times Square many times but my favourite was my very first time with my friend Rache. We had so much fun, running around going to the red steps to take pics in the crazy lights, going shopping for at least one item and just having some tourist fun. We took pictures of everything in the Street, the Naked cowboy, the crazy people dressed in cartoon characters and the cops haha (that was the best). Times Square at night seriously is the best! You can find yourself getting lost in the moment and looking at your watch after a few hours not realising that it is 2am and it doesn’t even feel like it because of all the lights and the buzzing atmosphere.

Everyone knows about the Empire State Building. It is one of the biggest buildings in New York and when you stand in front of it, you don’t release what it is until you move away more and stand afar you are able to see the building and how big it really is. The Empire State Building is a 103 story skyscraper located in Manhattan. It has a roof height of 380m and with it’s antenna spire included, it stands at 443m high. It’s nickname was giving by the catchy phrase we here in music lyrics “the empire state” which means New York state, thus the Empire state building was named. It stood as the World’s tallest building for nearly 40 years. Those were some facts they I found pretty interesting about the building. Sometimes its good to find out the history of a monument or building that was made many years ago. One of my favourite moments I got to see in America was their celebration on the 4th of July Independence day. The fire works were truly amazing and what stood out to me was the empire state building lit up in red, blue and white. It was so awesome to see and be apart of.

Central Park was one of the places I didn’t really get to take pics of because I was too busy, my phone died, I simply forgot or was just in awe of the place I was in. I always see people walking through the park, having a jog with friends, a couple kissing some where or just a family having fun with each other. It is such a great place to relax and have a picnic. Sometimes I would see people having a boot camp or yoga session in the park and it just look like so much fun. Some places in Central Park are very romantic and I really wished I had my boyfriend with me. I had never had a chance to see the fountain and the place where “Blare and Chuck Bass” got to run out after their crazy love moment and I was super upset with myself but I will go back to visit my amazing friends and Central Park will be my first stop.

One of the places I had to go to in NYC was definitely Brooklyn. When I walked in the streets of Brooklyn I felt as if I was at home in Cape Town. There are families in the street and almost every house on the corner is a house shop. It was truly amazing to be there. I went to Dumbo where you see the amazing view of New York City in the background of the first image. On a Sunday they have a market where you can buy anything and everything. A few hours after I had gone, the VMA’s were in Dumbo and Katy Perry was the artist who sang. I was pretty upset that I didn’t get to see it but I saw them set up, that does count right??? Ever since I watched movies or series there is always one scene where they end up doing something on the Brooklyn bridge. Recently “how to lose a guy in 10 days” came on and I just thought of the day I actually walked on the Brooklyn bridge. It is really a scene out of a movie like even when you just put your foot on it, you want to take a picture. I had seen some locks on the bridge where people all over the world had written their name on it and attached it to the bridge. I forgot my lock like a crazy person – so that is still on my bucket list as well as Paris’ locks bridge.

Statue of Liberty,Liberty Island, New York, NY

September 1875 – Contraction started. October 28, 1886 – Opened.

I am not going to give you the History of the Statue of Liberty but I will tell you about my experience. My first view of the Statue which in the first image you can’t see at all, which is what we basically saw and that why my friend Rache is sad and I’m laughing because we really thought we would have been able to see it closer on our trip around New York with our Au pair agency. It was such a classic moment because all the au pairs were like “ummmm is this all we get to see?” The second image I went to Madame Tussauds with my crazy friend Shannon (who was an au pair from the UK). We decided on her last few days before returning home, that we would just go and do some crazy things. Madame Tussauds is a wax museum where you can see Celebrities, Statues, Famous events and People that have left a great legacy before passing on. It was great fun and I totally had to put my head in the Statue because I really thought you could when you see the real thing. My friend Kim, also from South Africa, but is studying abroad, went with me on a trip over the lake to Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty in person. As we were on the boat it was so funny because we both suffer from really bad sea sickness, which isn’t the best plan if you don’t know anyone else but we survived. Approaching the Island, the Statue was so huge, really, I thought it was smaller and really didn’t know how to react. I took so many pictures and truly enjoyed all the history I had learnt about the statue. I also received a certificate for visiting the statue which I thought was so awesome as a tourist to have as a memory.

Laura was born in Australia and lived there most of her life, until she graduated from Hillsong College where she met her husband Carl. She is excited to be a part of Hillsong NYC and knows God has incredible things ahead for that city and nation. She has been passionate about building the local church her entire life, and about delivering the gospel in a method that makes sense to a generation that is desperately seeking a cause greater than themselves. Laura and Carl have three amazing children who wrestle bears and bunnies.

I attend Hillsong in Cape Town and I wanted to visit our campus in the States. I went every Sunday and loved every minute of it. Heard many different pastors from around USA preach, learnt so much in the time I spent with my Hillsong family and I am truly blessed that I got to experience it for those 7 months.

These are some of my Amazing friends that I met on my trip and I miss them all like crazy. I also put up a picture of Victoria secret and Madame Tussauds.

I really miss all of my crazy friends and do plan to visit them in the future if they don’t beat me to it and come to Cape Town. What is your dream destination to visit??

God bless xxxo

Have you questioned yourself about getting a tattoo, what you would get, where it should be, what would it say, should I really get one, will I regret it? I have been asking myself these questions for a couple of years now. Many of my friends have tattoos and I think it’s so awesome but some I really don’t understand, yes it’s not for me to understand and don’t get me wrong I respect that, I just really don’t know what I would really get and not regret.

IMG_9722 IMG_9729tumblr_menaw3yDys1qdvqgzo1_500 IMG_9724

These are some things that I have learnt – my hard thinking moments “to be Inked or not to be Inked”

The history of tattoo began over 5000 years ago and is as diverse as the people who wear them. Tattoos are created by inserting colored materials beneath the skin’s surface. The first tattoos probably were created by accident. Someone had a small wound, and rubbed it with a hand that was dirty with soot and ashes from the fire. Once the wound had healed, they saw that a mark stayed permanently. Despite the social sciences’ growing fascination with tattooing, and the immense popularity of tattoos themselves, the practice has not left much of a historical record.

If you’re surrounded by friends or family members who have tattoos, you are more likely to think getting tattoos are no big deal. But researchers also found that the more tattoos a person had the more they felt on the receiving end of stigmatization. And the more disapproval a tattooed person feels, the more likely they are to have them removed. When someone gets a tattoo, they feel the need to inspire it with meaning, and can become quite anxiety over their tattoo narratives if they feel to little. When people get a tattoo simply for the sake of wanting one, they are more likely to regret it later. Not everyone needs a reason to get a tattoo, but behavioral research shows us that in general, people expect there to be a meaning or purpose for it—and that’s a meaning you can expect to be asked about by anyone. Just a few things to keep in mind before you get a tattoo or decided to apply ink to your body.

I do feel that a tattoo can be anything you want it to be but don’t get something you might regret later, you can always cover a tattoo up though. I really think that a tattoo is a lifetime commitment because it is on your body for the rest of your life, unless you remove it. I have put things I want as tattoo on a sticky note or book I am always using and if I get sick of looking at it I pull it out, since I have done this, only 2 have lasted and maybe those would be the ones I will get. The reason why I don’t have a tattoo yet he he, my parents will totally kick me out the house. They really don’t like it at all. I understand where they are coming from at times but I would also like to make decisions for myself, I had gotten my ears pieced and they didn’t like it but seemed to get over it. I however respect them and will wait until I am married and out of the house before I to get a tattoo.

1. If you’re thinking about getting a tattoo, there is one very important thing you have to keep in mind — getting it done safely.
2. Think of a design you want to get.
3. Make a rough sketch of your design.
4. Find the location on your body that you want to put it
5. Touch up your design
6. Find an artist you trust.
7. Pick a few and check them out.
8. If the studio looks unclean, if anything looks out of the ordinary, or if you feel in any way uncomfortable, find a better place to get your tattoo.
9. Have a bit of knowledge of the overview.
10. Choose the artist whose work you like best and tell him or her you want a tattoo.
11. Negotiate your price.
12. Pay attention to the location where you will be tattooed.
13. When you get there, go over the new and improved picture, and make sure it’s OK.
14. Relax.
15. Take a final look when it’s finished.
16. Take care of your tattoo as instructed.
17. Even after it’s fully healed, a tattoo is more susceptible to the sun’s rays, so it’s a good idea to always keep it protected from direct sunlight.
What tattoos I would get and what they mean to me?
– I really want to have a cross tattooed on my hand because it something I always use and when I see it, it will remind me that God is always there and that I am never alone.
– A lion, I have wanted one for 2 years now but really don’t know where on my body?? Maybe my ribs or shoulder-blade, who knows if I will really get it.
– 22 in Roman Numerals on my collar-bone or shoulder. It means light in the Bible and I want to be the light to everyone around me.
– An anchor on my wedding finger when I get married to my alien, can’t wait for that day.
–  A heart out line on my wrist or behind my ear.
To conclude, I think that tattoo’s are an awesome idea and I can’t wait to walk into a tattoo parlour one day and get one myself. Basically getting a tattoo or choosing not to all comes down to personal preference. I’d love to hear what your views are about tattoo’s. If you were to get a tattoo what would you get??
God bless xxxo

red head

Sometimes during my lunch break I find some crazy rooms in our office block and these are one of those rooms.

It’s so simply yet so prefect for a lady and of course moments to just have a Selfie overload!!!

I decided why don’t I show you what a Friday would look like in my world of lunch breaks.

image image1

What I love about this fitting room are the simple hangers on the side which is covered with silk fabric and allows you to hang up your garment while you are trying on something else, so cute. The white seat I found out was an old bench that was found laying on the side of a road and was just given a much needed paint job. The beautiful mirror was bought at a craft store in town that is now closed down. I was pretty upset when I found out but lead me to wanting to DIY my own. That will be a different post on its own.

Beanie – H&M    Top – Models Own    Jeans – Mr Price    Shoes – Tekkie Town

I am so sure that the first thing you notice about my outfit is the bright red beanie on my head, I love wearing it when I really feel like standing out or just added some colour to a dull outfit. My love top was a top I had bought from my church, Hillsong Cape Town, when we had our Colour event this year. The theme was “The greatest love story ever told” and that is why love is printed on the shirt. Blue jeans are a must have for everyone. The one I have on is an ankle grazer and I love wearing it with heels or a boot but today I wore it with my famous comfy shoes “chucks”.

As you can see I love a Selfie every now and then. I go to the extreme sometimes but that’s just me.

Show me your best Selfie and tag lion20two on Instagram or nerdlion22 on twitter. Can’t wait to see your looks

cup of tea anyone??

I really don’t know how I got through this weekend but between all the 21st’s I had gone to my Beautiful gran tea party. She had turned 83 and she wanted all her daughters and granddaughters to go out for tea. My aunt had told us about this place in Brackenfell called Boere Sjiek and it really speaks for itself.

IMG_5608  IMG_5572IMG_5596  IMG_5651IMG_5560  IMG_5605IMG_5615  IMG_5619IMG_5602  IMG_5661

It was so hard to finally choose which slice of cake I wanted because there were so much to choose from; cheese cakes, red velvet, carrot, tiramisu, chocolate and every cup cake you could think of. The drinks were so good, I had a Vanilla Iced Latte and wow was it not to die for, if you haven’t noticed I really love cold drinks its weird. #justbeingme

IMG_5664   IMG_5565   IMG_5567   IMG_5579

Besides having a cup of tea and a slice of cake, you can purchase any of the items in store. Everything you were served with you were able to purchase which was awesome, there were so many things I would use in my home or bedroom, or even just a random room.

If you ever find yourself wanting a cup of tea with the ladies try it out and enjoy 🙂
