struggle is real…

You ever have a feeling that you stuck in something you feel you cannot get out of yet you know you shouldn’t be in it???

It could be a friendship, work place, hotel room or even a family gathering.

I have come to learn that you are the only person that can change that exact situation, no-one else can do it for you. You can be encouraged to move on and turn away, yet you hold the power to actually follow through with the advise given.

Ask yourself these questions :

  • Look at what is bad or not right about the situation
  • Find out what is keeping you there and why?
  • Would it be worth it in the long run?
  • What have people been saying to you, should I listen or just push it a side
  • Should I stay or should I go?
  • In which way will I benefit
  • Can I solve it or will it just get worse if I try?
  • Am I truly happy?

If most of the questions are answered in a negative way GET OUT, as you will be hurting yourself more than anything. To be honest we all deserve to be happy and never have to find ourselves in a situation where we are not ourselves or find that we are just trying to survive or get through the day.

Save yourself from the drama, you deserve better!!!!

misfit – my first tattoo

On the 8th April this year, I decided to take the plunge and got a tattoo… After much deliberation on what to get, how it should look, where it can be placed, the size and of course, if it’s a picture or script. I had finally found EXACTLY what I wanted. This had not taking a few months but a few years!!!

I had finally decided on the word MISFIT and a paw print as I am obsessed with lions of cause.

What the word MISFIT means to me and why I chose it : Do you possibly have a lifetime for me to truly show you what this word could describe and shape who I truly I am?

Probably not so I will try my best to explain how much I love being a MISFIT lol.

All my life I have found myself NOT fitting in with anyone, yes I had my group of friends, yet I always stood out or had some weird way of being noticed. I have had my fair share of trying to fit in, yet found myself losing who I truly I am and I didn’t like that. I don’t think that I fit in with my family, sometimes my friends, my work place or even just when I walk in a crowd. YET that is me, a misfit never wanting to be like everyone else, being who I was truly put on this earth to be. Being able to spot me a mile away cos I’m different in a good way.

With that being said I got the word MISFIT and a paw print on my rib cage as it is the worst place to get a tattoo! As the word has so much meaning and I wanted to show it off. So when you see it you will ask and I get to express a side of myself to you that you may not know as if yet.

What’s funny is that people who know me basically tell me when they see it “YEAH that explains you to the T” I just laugh as I know exactly what they mean.

I think one thing every has asked me is, “oh my word you have a tattoo and then flip was it not sore???” To be honest it is a weird feeling but I think I handled it really well. The closer the lines got to my chest the more pain I felt. The final line I honestly felt like the tattoo artist was about to kill me boobs but it went by so quickly I just bit down and took the pain.

It did take a bit of convincing for my tattoo artist to do my ribs as my first tattoo. They advised most people die half way through as it is one of the worst places to get a tattoo, so I was very proud of myself for going though with it.

That is my story of my first tattoo, can’t wait to tell you the next ❤

unbreakable smile

DSC_6955

There is this song “Unbreakable smile by Tori Kelly” and I just love it. You see there are gonna be some people that want you to do this:

“You see me hanging with my fam, but that don’t mean I’m living in a bubble
You’ll find me at church, but that don’t mean I can’t cause trouble
Stir up a little scene ’cause isn’t that what you want?
For me to mess up, so you can dress up some story”

And then this is what I would say and probably laugh afterwards:

“You’ll say that I’m naïve, like I don’t have a past,
You’re the one being deceived, I see right behind the mask
Tryna to stir me up and get me mad
I smile because happiness is all I have”

This is what it basically comes down to, choose the friends that will put you in your place for your good and not theirs, those who actually want to see you succeed, strive to have a great laugh everyday and have a  silly fight but nothing a random “brain fart” can’t work out, a friend that will have you back even when they don’t have too and finally sometimes you have to be that friend for others or you could just be living for yourself or end up alone…

Truly find the ones who give you that Unbreakable smile 😀

I have come to love this South African brand  – DutchAfro. If you have not heard of them you are clearly missing out!!! Plain, printed, long or short Tees are a must have. My sister and I did a shoot with some of the Tees sold at markets and online, here are some of them.

DSC_7119 DSC_7106DSC_7095 DSC_7109

Long Tees – this can be worn with anything. Leggings, ripped jeans and for those hot summer days slip on a tight shorts to show off those legs.

Crew necks in cream and yellow – we just added a little twist, tucking them in to create a different style of wearing a normal T. If the T is plain add some detail with a printed shorts or skirt to stand out.

Printed Vest – this is my favourite, not only do I love the print but the colour too, pair it with a daring white pants or shorts and you will be the talk of the town.

DutchAfro is not only an amazing company but the feel of the clothing is amazing, hugs your body and can be worn all day without a sweat. Great choices goes into the fabric and each item made.

If you would like to know more check them out at Dutch Afro Clothing you will not be disappointed.

I have heard and seen this saying for so many weeks now “No – one can make you happier than yourself” I have sat and thought about it for a while. I mean is has basically been in my face everyday… I have always wanted someone to put a smile on my face but once the smile fades, I’m back to where I started. Instead of just making myself happy.

IMG_1804 IMG_1796

I have always made other people smile and put my issues aside. I have come to learn that if I continue to do that I will basically fade away or just bottle things up way to much and blow up sooner than later. Lately I wake up in the morning and look into the mirror and say “hey beautiful, don’t forget to smile”. It really has helped me a lot. When you smile it makes you feel and look so much more welcoming to others and to yourself at times. Remember your attitude will filter out to people, it can make or break relationships and friendships.

This photo shoot really helped me find me again, be crazy and get away from all the craziness and just believe in myself. Believe that yes my blog might be small but it’s totally for me to be me and I am going to do just that.

Believe in yourself and you will get further than you expect…

coffee dreams

DSC_7044

I just wanted to share with you just how much I truly love coffee and my dreams that are yet to take place on coffee dates.

DSC_7048 DSC_7050

You know when you wake up and you crave something so badly? Now for me that craving would be coffee. I think I am a coffee addict, oh my word! The best situation for me would be, wearing an over sized shirt to chill outside and admire a beautiful view while sipping on a good cup of coffee just before work. My dream is to have a view just like this one. Be able to walk out of my house and enjoy a cup of coffee and enjoy the beauty that the day brings 🙂 (Notice, as long as coffee is in the picture, Im pretty much having a good day?). I am not much of a reader, but this view along with a “cup of joe” would definitely put me in a creative mood and inspire me to blog more.

I think I have some obsessing with High waisted jeans and I love how it pulls everything together in this look. This jeans just has the right amount of rips and the colour stands out. I paired it with a simple grey crop top and a black kimono I bought at Cotton on. I just love it when you have nothing to wear but yet something to simple looks so good. I added a black wedge to dress up the look, still keeping it simple with a kick. Simple Gold jewellery to spice it up and look more elegant. I think I got right.

Never be scared if can rock a high-waisted short or jeans just do it…

Keep it simple yet elegant and you will have got a great look ❤
